Congratulations to Dr. Kenneth Stopa!

Congratulations to Dr. Stopa, Michigan’s ONLY Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP)

Dr. Kenneth S. Stopa, Jr. has successfully completed the requirements to be certified as a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP).  The DACBSP certification requires the doctor to attend a minimum of 300 hours of postgraduate education.  This instruction is specific to evaluating physical fitness and the assessment and treatment of injuries encountered in sports.  Following the completion of these hours, the doctor must then take and successfully pass a comprehensive written examination.  The doctor must also successfully complete a practical (hands-on) examination.  In addition, the doctor must have a sports-related paper published in a peer-reviewed journal and a minimum of 100 hours providing hands-on treatment to athletes outside of the clinical setting.

Dr. Stopa has fulfilled all of the requirements through the ACBSP and has completed more than the required 100 hours working with the Northville High School Athletics, Professional Mixed Martial Artists and the Olympic athletes at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO., the only Chiropractor in Michigan ever invited to work at the training center.

This training will aid Dr. Kenneth S. Stopa, Jr. in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries by enhancing his diagnostic skills and patient care.  The DACBSP accreditation exists to provide a uniform standard of education that assures teams and athletes that the doctor has met a high level of competency in chiropractic sports medicine.  Dr. Kenneth S. Stopa, Jr. joins approximately 270 others nationally who hold this designation.
