FRESHMAN STALLIONS FIGHT TO THE END, BUT LOSE 33-0

The Northville Freshman Stallions Brett Mathiesen returned the Eagles kick-off.  Stallions QB Luke Pevovar played a double handoff to Mathiesen for a short gain. With 9 minutes left in 1st quarter Stallions QB Pevovar handed off to Jack Ellis for the run.  With the Eagles in possession of the ball, Jayson Saad stopped them on the carry. However, the Eagles scored a touchdown.  The extra point was good.

Stallions QB Brett Rankin received the Eagles kick-off on the 30-yard line, and in the next play, Rankin passed to receiver Grant Lenton for a 5 yd gain. Rankin continued to press forward to the 38 yd line.  The Eagles recovered a fumble by the Stallions before committing their own fumble and recovery for a 1 yd loss. Tackles were made by Stallions Rankin, Owen Steele, Nick Roehrig, Tyler Ross and Nick Senawi to hold the score at Eagles 7-Stallions 0.

The 2nd quarter opened with a handoff from QB Rankin to Hunter Galindo who was tackled.  After a Stallions fumble and recovery by the Eagles on the 47 yd line, the Eagles advanced toward their end zone despite great tackles by Johnny Metrusias, Steele, Lenton and Senawi.  On the next play, the Eagles scored a touchdown and extra point for a 14-0 lead.  Stallions QB Rankin and receiver Lenton continued to carry the ball forward on the next few plays with Rankin running for 46 yd to 1st down before turning the ball over to the  Eagles.  Stallions Jack Bugar caught an interception on the 30 yd line with 8 seconds left in Q2 to hold the Eagles lead to 14-0 at half-time.

In the 3rd, despite successive tackles by Stallions Pevovar, Connor Place and Alex Darr, the Eagles scored their third touchdown and extra point to widen the Eagles lead to 21-0.  With 3:53 left in Q3 the Eagles scored another touchdown to end the quarter at 27-0.

The Stallions offensive front line, led by Jacob Merritt, Saad, Senawi, Brendan Darr and Parker Marquette helped clear the way to move the ball forward in Q4 before turning it over to the Eagles.  After regaining possession, Stallions Tommy Mandell carried the ball for a hopeful touchdown before being called back by a flag on the play.  The Eagles would score once more for a final of Eagles 33-Stallions 0.
