Joe's Produce to Kick Off In Season Chef Series at the Plymouth Farmers' Market

Chef of Joe’s Produce Gourmet Market to Kick off Cooking Demonstrations at the Plymouth Farmers’ Market

(Plymouth, MI) May 19, 2012. Joe’s Produce Gourmet Market’s award-winning chef, Reva Constantine, CEC, will kick off the first seasonal cooking demo featured at the Plymouth Farmers’ Market on Saturday, May 19.  In partnership with Distinctive Appliances, distributor of the chef-celebrated Viking appliance brand, Chef Reva will be cooking in their state-of-the-art mobile kitchen.

After an enthusiastic response to last October’s cooking demo at the Market, Joe’s Produce Gourmet Market and Distinctive Appliances jumped at the opportunity to kick-off the newly launched monthly series. After a pilot demo last year, which proved to be a crowd-pleaser, the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce decided to feature local chefs at the Market. Each month will feature a different chef, restaurant or market, giving them an opportunity to promote their businesses.

Stacy Sloan, a Plymouth Chamber member and local entrepreneur, is the coordinator of the Chef’s Series. “There are so many excellent chefs, restaurants and specialty markets in the area that are doing such interesting things. The Plymouth Market is the perfect place to highlight their talent and give them an opportunity to grow their business and elevate brand awareness. It helps small businesses, it engages the community, and it brings an added sense of excitement to an already fantastic market.”

The event will take place on Penniman Avenue at 10 am and will last one hour. A seasonal recipe will be prepared and Constantine will talk techniques with the audience, giving them the inside scoop on how to grill like a pro.

Joe Maiorana, proprietor of Joe’s Produce Gourmet Market, is excited about the event. Passionate about supporting the community, as well as being a resource for his customers, Maiorana is energized about participating in the kick-off. “We’re thrilled to again partner with the city of Plymouth to bring this exciting series to the Market. This is an exciting time for us, too, because our new meat and seafood store will open at the end of this month. We’re excited to give our guests a sneak-preview into what we’ll have to offer them. “

About Joe’s Produce –

In 1945 Gaspare Maiorana bought an apple orchard on seven mile road in Livonia Michigan. It included a home and a roadside stand. There on the street corner, he sold apples and seasonally grown produce to friends and neighbors. Fifteen years later Gaspare brought his son Joe Sr. into the family business. Joe's interests were in retailing, and it soon became apparent that they must open a produce market to better serve the community. In 1967 they opened Joe's Produce. The store has been changed and modified throughout the years to meet the needs of our customers, yet even today, Joe's Produce has the same commitment to quality and service that Gaspare and Joe Sr. had 50 years ago.

Joe Jr. cares deeply about each and every product they sell. From supporting Michigan farmers and food manufacturers, and finds the best local products to share with his customers. More than just a produce market, Joe’s is a full service gourmet market, featuring cheeses, wines, specialty grocery items, catering, scratch bakery and prepared foods using only the best ingredients.

The newest addition to the Joe’s Produce Gourmet Market brand is our new meat and seafood shoppe. Specializing in exceptional quality, customers can expect to find items like all natural, Michigan grass-fed beef, Angus USDA Choice beef, Durock pork, all natural Bell and Evans chicken and poultry, and sustainable and locally sourced fish and seafood.
