The Riverside RASCals Precision Skating Team took first place in their competitive debut at the recent Artistic Inter-Club skating competition in Roseville, MI. Team members include Andrew Esser and Valentyna Stadnik from Northville who are students at Silver Springs and Amerman respectively. The team now advances to the Regional Championships that will be held in Illinois next month.
A total of ten roller skaters from Riverside Arena took ten top placements . Several skaters medaled in both individual and team events. Placing 1st in their categories were Stephanie Cueva, Ryan Heersink, Sofia Cueva, Jillian Heersink, all of Livonia and Valentyna Stadnik of Northville. Members of the winning Riverside RASCals Precision Team are Chloe LaMay of Plymouth, Hanna Denes of Garden City, Andrew Esser and Valentyna Stadnik of Northville, Amanda Smyser of Westland and Jade Ross, Ryan Heersink, Stephanie Cueva, and Sofia Cueva, all from Livonia. Also receiving bronze medals were Ryan Heersink and Valentyna Stadnik. Rounding out the club roster was Emma Chappell, also of Livonia.
These skaters will be featured in the Riverside Arena Spring Spectacular skating show on Sunday, May 20 from 5:30-7:30pm. Tickets are $5 and are available in advance or at the door and children under 5 get in free. Proceeds from the skating show will benefit the students who will be travelling to Illinois and Nebraska for the upcoming Regional and National Roller Skating Championships.
