5 Things About Memorial Day Weekend in Northville
Info about what will be closed, the parade, road closures and more.
1. The Memorial Day Parade
Northville's parade on Monday will be hosted by The VFW Post 4012. The Memorial Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. and starts on Griswold at Northville Downs. It will proceed west on Main Street to Hutton, to Dunlap, to south on Center to Cady, west on Cady, stopping at Oakwood Cemetery, then proceeding to First, Fairbrook and ending at noon at the Veterans' Memorial at Rural Hill Cemetery.
2. Road closures
There are two events this weekend that will lead to road closures - the parade and the Northville Flower Sale.
During the parade on Monday, roads will be closed downtown. Here's more from an alert from the city of Northville Police Department: "The Memorial Day Parade will cause road closures in the downtown and surrounding area starting at approximately 9:30 AM. The parade route will reopen after the parade and pedestrian traffic clear out."
Over the weekend, the Northville Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual flower sale. It will be held downtown on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Main Street is currently and will remain closed between Wing and Hutton streets, according to a city police alert. Center Street is open to traffic. Main Street will open back up to traffic on Saturday after the sale at about 6 p.m.

My son, Cpl. Joseph Eichholtz is the youngest Grand Marshal of the parade! He returned from Afghanistan last August, where he earned a Bronze Star! He finished his four years in the United States Marine Corp and we're thrilled to have him home!

Thank you! It was so touching to be at the ceremony at Rural Hill Cematary's Veteran's Memorial. Before a Marine leaves for combat, he must make out a will and inform his family of where he'd like to be buried if anything, God Forbid, should happen. When we had this conversation, initially, Joe said "Arlington". Then he paused, and said "That would be cool, but no one would visit me there. So bury me in Rural Hill, then at least I'd know you'd visit me." The ceremony was so emotional, knowing I'd prayed, every day for his 7-month deployment, that I wouldn't have to visit him at Rural Hill. Spending Memorial Day with him at Rural Hill was the happiest time we'd had together since the day I adopted him!
