Alleged Hit-and-Run Driver Surrenders to Northville Police

December incident killed 25-year-old Joshua Green.

A man accused in a deadly December hit-and-run accident in Northville has turned himself in, exactly two months after the incident, Detroit's WJBK-TV is reporting.

The incident, which killed 25-year-old Joshua Green, who had just stepped into the road on Griswold Street in downtown Northville when he was struck by a sport-utility vehicle, which then fled the scene, the report said.

According to the report, the victim's mother led an effort to try to find the driver responsible for her son's death, passing out more than 500 flyers in the process.

"I was becoming a danger to myself and to others on the road because I was constantly looking for this car," Shirley Green told WJBK-TV.

Police told WJBK-TV that the driver's name has not been released because he hasn't been formally charged, but the case has been turned over to the prosecutor's office, which will then decide which charges he will face.

Good to hear this. I hope it brings a little bit of comfort to the family. Please follow up when the person is charged (assuming they are going to be) I would really like to know if it was a member of the community that did this.

Thanks for reading EBC and Debra. We will have an update as soon as there is any new information. I just talked to the police and they said the person has still not been charged and they won't release any information until after the case has been reviewed by the prosecutor. We'll let you know and soon as we hear anything.

I knew Josh from church; from the time he was a boy. He was a very fine young man. It was so tragic that his life ended so early. I am glad the person's conscience finally awoke. I, too, will be interested to learn more as the case unfolds.
