Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Calling On Northville Residents and a Word of Thanks

In the new year, there are many new features we'd like to begin. And we'd love to get your suggestions!

Just as this is a busy time of year for all of you, it is a busy time for us too at Northville Patch.

We'll still be posting new stories everyday during the holidays. And, in the holiday spirit of thanks, I'd like to thank the people that have helped us in covering Northville – froum the sources we've worked with in various departments to the people who have sent us story ideas. Thank you. We're proud of the work we've done. I also thank you, the reader, for checking in with us for your Northville news.

But I want to strengthen our content even more in the new year. That's my resolution, so to speak. It's my goal to beef up our focus on the people who are doing great things in Northville, as in the city and the township.

Here's how you can get involved:

  • In January, we're hoping to begin a weekly feature spotlighting the notable things Northville residents are doing in the community. This does not need to be a government official or other high-profile person. We're looking for the average citizen who is doing something worth highlighting. It can be a teacher, a student, someone who helped with a volunteer project and anything of the like. Those are just a few examples. We need those nominations to come from you, Northville residents, though.
  • We're still bringing freelancers into the Northville Patch family. If you know of someone who might make for a good columnist, please send it my way.  If there's any column idea you'd love to see us do but don't necessarily have a person in mind to do it, that's fine. Send it our way. We'll take it into consideration and do the research to see if we can make it happen.
  • Letters to the editor are integral to creating discussion on important topics in our communities. If you ever want to sound off on something happening in your neighborhood, the city or township, the state or the country, send it to us. We'll be posting letters to the editor more regularly come January.

And as usual, if you have story ideas please continue to send them to me. Any email for me, Nancy Kelsey, Northville Patch editor, can be sent to nancy.kelsey@patch.com or you can call 248-686-4958.

Happy holidays!
