Crime Report: Man Breaks into Northville Home
The following information was supplied by the City of Northville Police Department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A Northville woman called police early Sunday morning to report that someone had broken into the enclosed porch of her home on the 500 block of Beal St., according to a report from the City of Northville Police Department.
The 28-year-old told police she could hear someone inside her home. When police arrived around 1 a.m., they said they found a 26-year-old man swinging on the front porch swing, banging the swing into the walls of the porch.
Police say it was clear he was "highly intoxicated." They said they found all outside doors to the home locked and no evidence that the man had tried to get into the main part of the house.
Police said that because of the fact that he seemed confused and incoherent, they took him to Providence Park Hospital in Novi for evaluation.
The homeowner told police she did not want to press tresspassing charges and the case is closed.
Men arrested for drunk driving
- A 24-year-old man was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated on Saturday around 3 a.m., according to Northville police.
According to a police report, an officer was on patrol when he saw a car turn into the parking lot of Cooke School on Taft Rd. near 8 Mile. Because of the late hour, the officer said he followed the car into the lot and approached the vehicle, which had its engine running and headlights off.
The officer said he smelled alcohol coming from the car and he performed field sobriety tests on the driver before taking the man into the station for a breathalyzer test. The man's blood alcohol level was .13, which is over the legal limit of . 08.
- On Jan. 24, a 53-year-old man was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated near Main St. and Griswold in Northville around 1 a.m., according to police reports.
A Northville Police officer on duty said he noticed the car weaving between traffic lanes and that the car had a broken tail light.
He stopped the vehicle and said he immediately smelled alcohol when he approached the open window and that the driver's eyes were bloodshot and "glassy."
According to the report, the driver failed several field sobriety tests before the officer brought him into the station for a breathalyzer test. The man had a blood alcohol level of .1, which is over the legal limit of .08.
Both men were issued citations for operating while intoxicated and given court dates of Feb. 6 at the 35th District Court.
Drivers arrested for suspended licenses
A 46-year-old man was arrested in Northville on Jan. 25 on charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended driver's license, according to a police report.
According to the report, the driver was stopped for running the flashing red light at Hines Dr. and Center St. When the officer ran the driver's license, he found that it was suspended for impeding traffic in Dearborn.
The man was given a citation for driving with a suspended license and given a court date of Feb. 13 at the 35th District Court.
Township resident reports stolen lawn sprinkler valves
A Northville Township man called police on Friday to report stolen lawn sprinkler control valves from his home on Oak Pointe Circle near Winchester Dr., according to a township police report.
The 63-year-old man said he was taking a walk the day before when he noticed that his in-ground sprinkler valves were missing and the pipes were cut, according to the report.
The man said he last saw the valves in October when the sprinklers were drained. Police have no physical evidence and no suspects.
Man arrested for driving 60 miles over speed limit
A 26-year-old man was arrested around 5 a.m. Jan. 25 for going 107 mph in 45 mph zone, according to Northville Township police reports.
A police officer said that he was operating a laser speed gun near 8 Mile and Haggerty when he logged the car speeding. According to the report, the officer followed the car onto southbound I-275, stopping the car near 6 Mile Rd.
According to the report, the man was arrested and charged with reckless driving. He was given a court date of Feb. 15 at the 35th District Court.
