The Mustangs beat the South Lyon East Cougars in a game Thursday night.
Northville's varsity girls soccer team netted another win Thursday night in a game against South Lyon East.
The Mustangs now move to 4-0 in the KLAA Central Division after defeating South Lyon East 4-0 at home.
Here's a recap of the game from coach Eric Brucker:
At the 21 minute mark, sophomore Megan Buckingham played a flat through ball to a sprinting Sophomore Jamie Chelsik, who carried the ball wide and finished with a right footed shot. Cheslik rang up another goal at 36 minutes, this time senior Mallory Weber fed the ball into Jamie down the left hand side. Cheslik turned and fired from 8 yards out.
In the second half, Buckingham did a quick short give-n-go inside the Cougar penalty box with Senior Jenni Borawski. Buckingham flicked it passed the diving keeper with her right foot. Borawski got the assist. At the 76 minute mark, senior Mallory Weber stole the ball from a South Lyon defender and cracked a low line drive shot passed the keeper. The goal was unassisted. Junior Kiki Hilmer recorded another shutout for the Mustangs. She recorded three saves to insure the shutout.
"South Lyon East is a much improved team," Brucker said. "John has put a great group of girls together that played very hard. Tonight was a good win not great. We tried some things that we worked on in practivce but didn't execute as I would have liked. We will continue to tinker with the line up throughout the season. I thought our midfield played exceptionally well and controlled the center of the field and we had yet another solid effort from our back line including Kiki."
Northville now moves to 6-0-2 (4-0-0 KLAA Central) South Lyon East moves to 5-3-1 (1-3-0 KLAA Central).
On Saturday, Northville will participate in the Saginaw Heritage Invitational. The next conference game is on Tuesday against Livonia Stevenson High School.
