District websites to get revamp

Beginning today, Northville Public Schools are expected to get new websites, district officials announced. They are expected to look similar to the current high school and middle school pages.

Here's what will change, according to a district email:

  • A news feed function with "most popular articles" featured prominently
  • A new search function will be added to search within each site.
  • A calendar system featuring individual school and district events, including upcoming events. The events can be sent to smartphones or an electronic calendar.
  • More images and graphics to "reinforce key messages."
  • The option to read the website in different languages.

I noticed that all the new teacher/employee hirees have Master's Degrees. A Master Degree person starts at a salary of about $5,000 more than a Bachelor Degree person. So, my question is, "Did the personel director look seriously at the candidates that had only Bachelor's Degrees?? I know that we want to hire the very best "New" teachers, but just because you don't have a Master's Degree, yet, doesn't mean that you are any less qualified to teach your subject. I am wondering if Nepotism had any thing to do with these hirings? It sounds suspicious to me that the district would hire more expensive teachers with all the people vying for these jobs. Please, do not ask me for more Taxe Dollars in the future to run the schools, since we can afford to hire these higher salaried people. Obviously, you won't need it.
