Northville Varsity Girls Basketball Nets Win Over South Lyon East
Senior Meredith Williams and junior Kendra Brenner led the team to a 45-35 victory.
The Northville Mustangs fended off the South Lyon East Cougars Friday night in girls varsity basketball.
The Mustangs ended the game with a 45-35 win.
"Coming off of two straight tough loses Northville was looking to turn things around and end division play on a positive note," coach Todd Gudith said. "Northville played a strong first half, holding the Cougars to just 10 points while running a balance attack on offense with solid shooting performances by Meredith Williams and Kendra Brenner."
Northville finished third in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association central division. The team is 6-4, one game away from second and two games behind first place Novi.
"We're a much better team when we are in control," he said. "I thought we were patient on offense and made a lot of good choices. We didn't really waste any possessions. We did things better tonight than what we did on Tuesday."
He added, "Our kids have shown all season that they want to win and are willing to work on correcting mistakes we've made. It's a matter of being consistent. With the playoffs approaching, we're going to face a lot of good competition and you have to have that level of consistency."
The girls qualify for the league playoffs and will now travel to number two seed Canton on Tuesday.
