Northville Police: Woman Drove While High on Drugs With Toddler Son in Back Seat

A 26-year-old Northville woman was arrested on July 20 after city of Northville police discovered she was high on prescription drugs and driving erratically while her toddler son rode in the back seat, according to a police report.
A police officer was driving near the intersection of Novi Road and Allen Drive when the truck in front of him had to swerve and brake suddenly to avoid being hit by the woman, according to city police reports. He activated his lights and pulled over her SUV.
The officer wrote in the police report that the woman had her 18-month-old son in the back in a car seat and "seemed a bit 'off.'" Upon investigation, he learned she rear-ended a car the day before in Northville Township and had previous drug arrests, according to the report.
Police searched the SUV and found marijuana, a pipe, prescription drugs not prescribed to her and a knife, according to a city police report. She told police she had taken prescription drugs earlier in the day, including xanax and vicodin, according to the report..
She was arrested and cited with child endangerment, possession of marijuana, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of prescription drugs, carrying a concealed weapon and operating under the influence of drugs. She is due to appear in the 35th District Court in August.
Her son was turned over to a relative and child protective services was called to assist.
