One Dead After Condominium Fire on Saturday
84-year-old woman killed in fire at the Enclave of Novi, no other injuries reported.
A fire Saturday afternoon at the Enclave of Novi, a condominium complex at the 43000 block of Twelve Oaks Crescent, claimed the life of an 84-year-old woman, according to a news release from the Novi Fire Department.
At about 2:20 p.m., Novi firefighters responded to a report of smoke at the condominium complex located just southeast of the Twelve Oaks Mall, the release said.
The firefighters arrived to find an active structure fire, the release said. Police and fire personnel cleared the building of residents, but received reports that an 84-year old woman was trapped on an upper floor. She succumbed to smoke inhalation and was pronounced dead at Botsford Hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The Novi Fire Department received assistance from the Walled Lake Fire Department. The fire still is under investigation by Novi's police and fire departments, in cooperation with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the release said.
