Updated: Plymouth Resident, Longtime Red Wing Chris Osgood Announces Retirement
Goalie won 3 Stanley Cups with Red Wings
Plymouth resident and longtime Detroit Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood announced his retirement today, the Detroit Free Press is reporting.
Osgood led the Red Wings to Stanley Cups in 1998 and 2008, and served as backup goaltender during the team's 1997 title run.
Osgood, 38, made his announcement during a conference call at noon today, the Free Press reported.
Today's news contradicts a report Monday, when the Free Press reported the Wings were bringing Osgood back for another season.
