Nearly 60 million people tuned in on Oct. 3 to watch the first presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
There will be three more 2012 presidential debates before election day on Nov. 6. Here's the schedule:

Topic: Domestic policy The debate focused on domestic policy and was divided into six time segments of approximately 15 minutes each on topics selected by the moderator, including healthcare, government's role and the deficit. Lehrer opened each segment with a question, after which each candidate was given two minutes to respond. Then the two candidates used the remaining time to discuss the topic. |

Topic: Foreign and domestic policy The debate will cover both foreign and domestic topics and be divided into nine time segments of approximately 10 minutes each. The moderator will ask an opening question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a discussion of the question. |

Topic: Town meeting format including foreign and domestic policy The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an additional minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion. The town meeting participants will be undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization. |

This Tuesday and the following Monday (16 and 22 October), the Northville Democratic Club will host Debate-Watching Parties at the Northville Sports Den. Doors open at 8:00 p.m., debates start at 9:00 p.m., and pizzas and salad will be served. Admission is free (donations accepted to help pay for the food), and everyone is welcome.
