UPDATED: Radio DJ Struck By Car in Northville Accident Dies From Injuries
Radio personality Jevon Hollywood of 106.7 FM was walking down Seven Mile Road last week when he was struck by a car.
The 106.7 radio DJ who was hit by a car last week as he was walking along Seven Mile has died this morning, according to Northville Township police.
"Today we say goodbye to our friend Jevon Hollywood. We love and miss him and will never forget him," a post on 106.7's Facebook page reads.
Police previously said that the 34-year-old, Jevon Robert Hotchkiss who is known on the radio as Jevon Hollywood, was walking down Seven Mile around 5:30 a.m. on July 28. when he stepped into the path of oncoming traffic. He was hit by a car, driven by a 61-year-old Livonia man, and taken to Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills.
Police are still investigating the accident, which occurred on Seven Mile near Haggerty Road. Public Safety director John Werth previously said that the rainy and dark conditions that morning may have been contributing factors in the accident.
It is not clear yet whether charges will be filed in the accident but Werth said that the case would be forwarded to the the prosecutor for review.
A representative from 106.7 FM could not be reached but on its website, the station issued the following statement:
"We say goodbye to Jevon Hollywood today. We love him, miss him, and will never forget him. Right now our thoughts and prayers go out to Jevon's many friends and his family.
The Beat staff will have a special reflection on Jevon's life at 5pm today."
