Ready for Christmas? Five Places to Sip and Sup

Most places are closed on Dec. 25, but if you must venture out for fuel, here's a hint: Fortune cookies and coffee drinks will save the day.

Just about everyone is open Christmas Eve, but the real challenge is who is open Christmas Day. Sure, your corner 7-11 will never let you down when you're seeking a last-minute carton of half-and-half, but what if you seek a bit more than a quick dash in and out of a shop?

Here are some places that will be open Christmas Day.

Caribou Coffee Company

47490 Grand River Ave, Novi | 248-305-9072
www.cariboucoffee.com
For those of you who won't have a merry Christmas if there isn't a latte to love, Caribou Coffee Company won't let you down. The Novi location will be open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 25.

Denny's Restaurant

27750 Novi Road | 248-348-3370
www.dennys.com
Denny's will be open all day, sticking to its 24-hour schedule, so whether you need something at 4 a.m. or 4 p.m. or a late-night pick-me-up, there you go.

Dragontown

21518 Novi Road, Novi | 248-348-1440
www.dragontownnovi.com
When the neighbor's dogs devoured the turkey in "A Christmas Story," the family opted to dine at a Chinese restaurant. That logic sticks: Dragontown will be open from 2-9 p.m. on Christmas Day. Perfect if your 25th needs Hunan flair or a side of wonton soup.

New Wing Hing

43171 Seven Mile Road, Northville | 248-348-8411
www.newwinghing.com
New Wing Hing will be open from noon to 9:30 p.m. So if the Christmas ham bombs, or you want none of the fuss, how about Szechuan, Cantonese or Mandarin cuisine?

Tuscan Café

150 N. Center St., Northville | 248-305-8629
www.thetuscancafe.com/
The Tuscan Café will be open Christmas Eve, approximately 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Christmas Day from 7 a.m. until the traffic dies down. (Last year they were open until about 1 p.m.) Stop in for salads, sandwiches, specialty coffee drinks and the like.

Now we know this is a list of only five. If you feel a restaurant deserves a shout-out as a place to nosh on Christmas Day, by all means, share in the comments section below.
