Salvation Army Just Short of Holiday Goal
Organization still accepting donations through January to meet goal.
The Salvation Army Plymouth Corps' Christmas fundraising campaign for Plymouth, Northville, Canton and Belleville has collected $278,539, according to a news release from the organization. This accounts for 88.4 percent of its $315,000 Christmas goal from this past holiday.
According to the news release, the organization's Red Kettle drive has collected $205,699 of its targeted $225,000.
Its campaign saw bell-ringers at a variety of businesses in the four communities and included noteworthy bell-ringers such as Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock and general manager Ken Holland in Northville and players Drew Miller and Valtteri Filppula in Plymouth Township.
While the bell-ringing portion of the campaign has ended, contributions made through the end of January still are counted toward the organization's 2011 Christmas goal, the news release said. Monetary donations can be sent or dropped off at its office, 9451 S. Main St. in Plymouth.
