Today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent for Christians—the season before Easter meant for penance, reflection and fasting.
For the next 40 days, many Chrisitans will choose to fast by giving up some sort of luxury, such as chocolate or Facebook. Many Christians also opt to "take on" something, such as spending more time with loved ones or helping the poor.
Recently, many non-Christians have also participated in giving up something during Lent.
What are you giving up for Lent this year? Do you have a creative idea for something to give up or take on? Why do you choose to participate? Share your thoughts below.
