What Would You Like to See in Northville?
Share your ideas for new additions to town in this new series on Northville Patch.
While Northville has a dense and diverse business population, particularly downtown, residents still can ponder about the newest amenity or must-have business.
In a new weekly series on Northville Patch, Visions for Vacancies, we'll highlight vacant or closing storefronts and locales in town and seek your input for suggestions to help fill these spots.
We'll start this week by getting a feel for what you guys would like to see in town. If you have an already-vacant property in mind, suggest it in the comments below and we'll try to highlight it in a future edition.
So... What does Northville need? Tell us in the comments below and check back each Monday as we highlight specific vacancies in town.

I'd love to see an Indian restaurant.

Fresh produce market, drive thru restaurant(although this may not be allowed due to zoning), a store that sells high end designer clothes at depatment store prices. Office supply store.

Brewpub, stores open on Sunday's, more restaurants (what we already have are great, but limited), more parking for businesses in existence + to come (two 3 story decks should suffice, nothing too tall)

Great suggestions, all.
Any vacant buildings in town that you think are sitting empty with plenty of untapped potential?

No, we don't need any more parking than we already have. Proof: Two restaurants take up several of the most prime spots in town for their outdoor dining all summer. We've "been there done that" with the argument on structures. The people spoke and the answer was NO.
Personally, I would love to see a Jamba Juice in town - or somewhere, anywhere in Michigan! A mobile fish market like the old "Fresh Catch Express" would be great, too.

Creative ideas, but sharing ideas don't open the doors of new businesses. Northville needs more than juice bar that will just close in a year like the last one that was here. Any store, restaurant, or office that needs to open will have to be a 'destination' business that people will be willing to go out of their way to visit. That is the ONLY way for downtown to compete against Haggerty Road, Twelve Oaks, and Plymouth areas. With that said, one big factor that could help downtown is either some type of mixed-use entertainment venue (ie: The Ark in Ann Arbor) or a unique but very notable establishment that would draw a reoccurring crowd (ie: Coyote Joe's in Shelby Township). We have Tipping Point, but it doesn't really fill that hole due to it's niche programming, and the Marquis, despite it's incredible potential for so much more is currently limited to it's own niche (not knocking the operators here as they obviously have the choice to run their business as they see fit). To answer John's question, just about every building downtown has some form of untapped potential, actually it is much easier to pick out those fulfilling their potential...
PS- I agree with Denise the parking argument is getting old, unless you want to turn the historic downtown into a shopping mall look-alike the less parking the better.
