Woman Arrested on Drunk Driving Charges After Nearly Swerving into Northville Township Cop Car
The following information was supplied by Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Northville Township police arrested a 53-year-old Novi woman on Oct. 28 on charges of operating while intoxicated near Eight Mile and Beck roads.
The woman was pulled over because she almost swerved into a parked Northville Township police car, which was running its speeding radar in the area, according to township police reports. Police also say the woman veered over the center yellow line while driving.
When pulled over by police, she told an officer that she had just come from a party in Northville. According to the police report, the officer could smell alcohol in the car and her speech was slurred.
Her blood alcohol level was over the legal limit of .08 percent, according to the report. Police found a half-empty bottle of vodka in the car and had the car towed.
She was arrested, released on a $500 bond and is due to appear in the 35th District Court later this month.

Why are drunk drivers released?!?! They should spend at LEAST one night in jail. And why is it only $500? WAY too nominal a bond in my opinion. I am so sick of drunk drivers (and texting drivers) I could scream. They are scum. Anyone who drives after drinking (or while texting) is driving with INTENT TO KILL and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. There should be zero tolerance. My brother was killed by a drunk driver two years ago and my heart goes out to everyone else that has gone through this ordeal -- and I pray for everyone that WILL go through this because sadly it will keep happening over and over and over. My brother is dead because some selfish, despicable person thought they were "fine" to drive because he only had three drinks.
