Woodside to Challenge Banner in Northville Township Treasurer Race
The official list of candidates for the August 7 election was released, indicating Woodside would run for treasurer.
Karen Woodside, a candidate for the Northville Township Board of Trustees, declared Friday that she would be running for the office of treasurer.
The deadline to file was May 15. Woodside initially filed for all four seats – supervisor, clerk, treasurer and trustee – and had to choose one by Friday.
Woodside will now run for treasurer against current trustee Marjorie Banner in the August 7 primary. Both are Republicans and there is no Democrat to challenge in the November election. The two are vying to fill the seat now held by treasurer Richard Henningsen.
The official list now has three Republicans running, with no Democratic Party challengers, for the office of supervisor. Current trustee Christopher Roosen as well as Robert Nix and Edward Kriewall seek to replace Mark Abbo. Abbo announced in March that he will not seek re-election. For the office of township clerk, incumbent Sue Hillebrand runs unopposed as a Republican.
According to the official list from township clerk Hillebrand's office, Republican Tom Cameron is no longer running for a township trustee seat.
There are six running for four other seats on the township board of trustees:
- Marvin Gans, incumbent (Republican)
- Symantha Heath (Republican)
- Mindy Herrmann, incumbent (Republican)
- Michael Kheibari (Republican)
- Michael Nolta (Democrat)
- Frederick Shadko (Republican)

I can’t believe that Woodside would show her face in Northville Township Politics after here last incomplete run as Township Supervisor. During her tenure as Supervisor she failed the people by not even completing her first 4 years as Supervisor. Now she is asking for the community to elect her as Treasurer. When we vote we should not leave any stone unturned, or closet door shut. I’m sure if you ask longtime residents and past employees you will see that she is not the person you want elected to the board.

Seems that this person may be a relative or possibly the campaign manager of Woodside's opponent

Someone claiming to be Jim Nowka is incorrect. I am neither related to, nor campaigning for any candidate. I’m just pointing out that Mrs. Woodside is the poster child for bad government. She lacks true leadership skills, and lacks sincerity. I question: Is this really Jim Nowka? This response lacks the usual diatribe he uses in his other letters. If this is Jim; his tirades take away from any sound, and otherwise, convincing argument(s) that he often wants to advance.

Boiling, are you just boiling over Ms. Woodside, or is that just your usual state of being? "Ms. Woodside is the poster child for bad government"? Wow. Have you read her bio? http://northville.patch.com/articles/karen-woodside-northville-attorney-to-run-for-township-treasurer I think she did a lot of good for the twp. when she was supervisor and the article says she had to resign because of family illness. All kinds of people have to resign a position, for any number of reasons. I fail to see how that makes them a poster child for anything.

I selected this alias, “Boiling”, some time ago for another blog I regularly contribute to; my state of being is none of your business. A bio, much like a eulogy, can be authored to reflect the positive flattering stories and portions of one life/past without mentioning or diving into their misgivings. That being said, the author of her Bio left a lot out. I personally witnessed her threats, misuse of the office of the Township Supervisor, and I have witnessed her strong arm approach to get try to get her way: btw, this strong arm tactic was not ethical. Let us leave it to say that Mrs. Woodside has more than enough skeletons to overfill a closet, and in my opinion, she is not suitable to hold a political office!
