Taj Declares Victory for Democratic Candidacy for Michigan's 11th Congressional District
Syed Taj has the lead over Bill Roberts in the primary election, faces Kerry Bentivolio in November.
Voters have picked Dr. Syed Taj to be the Democratic candidate for Michigan's 11th Congressional District in the primary election Tuesday.
With all precincts reporting, Taj got 59 percent of the vote over Bill Roberts, who has 41 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results reported by the Michigan Secretary of State.
Taj will face the Republican candidate in the Nov. 6 election, and the winner will serve a two-year term beginning in January.
Kerry Bentivolio has claimed victory over Nancy Cassis in the Republican race.
A statement on Taj's Facebook page declares his victory.
"I am humbled by the support that I received tonight and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue my campaign in the great 11th Congressional District," he said in the statement.
Taj also thanked his supporters and asked for their support in the coming months.
"We will celebrate tonight as tomorrow we will be back to work on the campaign trail. Thank you and now let's win in November!," he said in the statement.

Any candidate who puts such a scare into L. Brooks Patterson that he and the rest of the GOP establishment wasted everyone's time and perhaps half a million dollars pushing this doomed write-in effort scores a point from me. Bentivolio scores a second point for being a veteran, and a third for being, as J.J. puts it regarding Dr. Taj, "a good guy."
But he loses many more points for embracing the Tea Party movement's extreme ideology. The flip side of alienating the establishment is a sense that, if elected, Bentiviolio would rather remain "pure" than actually work with others in Congress -- even, God forbid, Democrats! -- to address pressing issues of real importance to this District and the State of Michigan.
We've seen such intransigence in the current U.S. House, where a few dozen Republican Tea Party freshmen torpedoed bipartisan legislation, nearly sank the debt ceiling deal and helped kill the "Super Committee's" efforts (leading us towards this "sequestration" business at the end of the year).
Like Bentivolio, Dr. Taj is clearly his own man and is by no means a career politician -- but he's also shown he can play well with others should he win in November.
I want to see a House that functions, not more of the Kabuki Theater we've seen under Reps. Boehner, Cantor, and the Tea Party Chorus.
Good Luck, Mr. Bentivolio, but I will continue to support Syed.

Dr. Taj's opponent copied the same answer to two of the questions asked: (1)What made you decide to run? and (2) What issues do you see affecting your district?
His answer: "I wanted to push the incumbent on issues related to government accountability, forced union contracting, and public debt. Now I have the opportunity to hammer those issues home."
Now, re-read Dr. Taj's answers. Seems we have one candidate dedicated to being a gadfly, while the other wants to move the area, and the nation, forward.

Oh, one last comparison:
"I am humbled by the support that I received tonight and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue my campaign in the great 11th Congressional District." - Dr. Syed Taj
Bentivolio: 'It Looks Like Mr. B is Going to Washington'
It looks like the voters of the 11th have some deciding to do.

Taj for Congress, Stabenow for Senate - serious candidates and two public servants worthy of your support.
Senator Stabenow ( www.stabenowforsenate.com ) has done a fine job for the state. While in Congress, her opponent has sponsored "personhood" bills that express the same underlying sentiment that Akin expressed ( http://goo.gl/5Fekc ). He ran a racist Super Bowl ad that was called "very disturbing", "really, really dumb", "despicable", and the "most revolting ad".
Michigan is better served by having Debbie Stabenow in the Senate.
It will also be better served by sending Dr. Syed Taj ( http://www.tajforcongress.com ) to the House. Remember, when asked to respond to a candidate survey, Dr. Taj's opponent copied the same lame answer to two of the questions asked: (1)What made you decide to run? and (2) What issues do you see affecting your district?
Dr. Taj wants to move the area, and the nation, forward. Let's let KB tend to the reindeer.
And after winning their respective primaries, here is how they reacted, giving a window into their personalities:
"I am humbled by the support that I received tonight and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue my campaign in the great 11th Congressional District." - Dr. Syed Taj
His opponent, KB, declared 'It Looks Like Mr. B is Going to Washington'. Hopefully, that's another Santa Claus gig; the guy and his deer need to eat.

Mr. Taj. Although you seem like a good man, your ideology is the same as Stabenow, Obama, Reid and Pelosi. You want to spend your way out of Michigans economic mess when we need fiscal restraint. I will be voting for the Kerry Bentivolio because of this. If Kerry screws up.....he will be out also but we can not spend and spend.

The President does NOT deserve a second term and the majority of America, minus the "Useful Idiots" of the left wing completely agree!

Part of the difference is that Dr. Taj wants good government. KB wants no government (but don't touch his Medicare.)
Dr. Taj wants to help move the 11th District, our state, and the nation, forward. Let's let KB tend to the reindeer.
