Go Green at the Northville Farmers' Market

Grass is finally green, trees are leafing out, Earth Day activities are past, and the Northville Farmers' Market opening are signs that spring has finally come to Michigan. With around 300 markets across the state, we rank in the top five states for number of farmers markets.

Fresh, locally grown produce, plants and flowers, honey, maple syrup, baked goods, sauces and dressings, pasta, juried crafts, and much more will be available when the Northville Farmers' Market opens Thursday, May 3.  New shopping hours this year will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Bring your reusable market basket or bag.

A farmers market has existed in Northville since 1924, providing fresh meat, produce and eggs to the "townies".  Today, our Market sells only products grown or made in Michigan, and sold by the producer.

Fresh salad greens, asaparagus, herbs, and thousands of plants, pots and baskets will be available on opening day, just in time for Mothers Day.  This year the Chamber of Commerce has Gift Checks available to purchase – let Mom choose!  www.northville.org/events/farmersmarket

Sorry, we're not able to do that at this time. Thursday has been the traditional Market day in Northville for many years, and it works well with Northville Downs and their scheduled use of the property. I will reccommend you to the Farmington Farmers Market on Saturdays. It has many of the same vendors as we do plus some other great features like live music. There are several other great Saturday markets in the general area---go to: www.mifma.org to find Saturday and Sunday markets.

Weekend hours please! Working people can't get there on a week day!

Sorry! Thursday has been the traditional Northville Market day, and doesn't interfere with the Northville Downs traffic and use of the lot. Have you considered a CSA? Several of our farmers offer this unique and convienient way to pick up fresh produce on a weekly basis. I'll be writing about CSAs in the Blog soon. In the meantime, Farmington Farmers Market is a Saturday market and will be opening soon. We share many of the same vendors. Go to www.mifma.org to locate other markets in Michigan.
