When interior designer Brian Clay Collins  of Grosse Pointe embarks on his annual spring-clean at his northern Michigan home, it’s with glass cleaners, vinegar and lint-free towels in-hand, among other things. “The absolute requirement for clean wood floors is warm water with a bit of white vinegar, used with a big sponge rinsed frequently,” said Collins, who owns Brian Clay Collins Design. “This is all done, alas, on hands and knees!!” Like hundreds of other homeowners who now are focusing on sprucing up, freshening and deep-cleaning their homes, Collins swears by favorite products. Compuware Arena Drive-In in Plymouth Opens This Weekend

The Avengers, Battleship among blockbuster films screening this weekend at drive-in.

As spring moves quickly into summer, the Compuware Arena Drive-In Movie Theatres starts another season with a two-day opening this Friday and Saturday. The drive-in – located at 14900 Beck Road in Plymouth Township – will continue with another three-day weekend May 25-27 before going to a seven-day-a-week operation June 8 through September 2. The movies showing this Friday and Saturday include: SCREEN 1: Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (PG), with The Three Stooges (PG). SCREEN 2: The Avengers (PG-13), with John Carter (PG-13). SCREEN 3: Battleship (PG-13), with This Means War (PG-13). Median Home Sale Prices Continue Rising Locally This Spring, Report Shows

Monthly figures for Oakland County show residential real estate market still rebounds.

Refreshing news for local home-sellers is in the latest look at sale prices for homes and condos in four Metro Detroit counties. Median prices rose to $70,000 in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston last month, a 1.6-percent rise from March. The new median is nearly 19 percent higher than in April 2011, says a report Monday from Realcomp II Ltd., a multiple listing service in Farmington Hills. Selling prices rose within each county, extending a four-month trend for 2012. Livingston County has the highest median ($150,000), followed by Oakland ($114,500), Macomb ($72,500) and "Greater Wayne," excluding Detroit ($62,000). Northville Charity Wins $10,000 Prize

The New Hope Center for Grief Support won a grant from Community Financial Credit Union.

- From a Community Financial Credit Union press release Community Financial Credit Union recently announced the winners in its “Thumbs Up for Charity” program. Throughout April, the community had the opportunity to nominate nonprofits to be finalists in the program and then vote from the five finalists to determine a winner.
