The official list of candidates for the August 7 election was released, indicating Woodside would run for treasurer.

Karen Woodside, a candidate for the Northville Township Board of Trustees, declared Friday that she would be running for the office of treasurer. The deadline to file was May 15. Woodside initially filed for all four seats – supervisor, clerk, treasurer and trustee – and had to choose one by Friday. Woodside will now run for treasurer against current trustee Marjorie Banner in the August 7 primary. Both are Republicans and there is no Democrat to challenge in the November election. The two are vying to fill the seat now held by treasurer Richard Henningsen. The official list now has three Republicans running, with no Democratic Party challengers, for the office of supervisor. Current trustee Christopher Roosen as well as Robert Nix and …

I can’t believe that Woodside would show her face in Northville Township Politics after here last incomplete run as Township Supervisor. During her tenure as Supervisor she failed the people by not even completing her first 4 years as Supervisor. Now she is asking for the community to elect her as Treasurer. When we vote we should not leave any stone unturned, or closet door shut. I’m sure if you…   more ›

Teachers, union members and others chanted, marched and yelled at people arriving for a Republican dinner Tuesday at the San Marino Club, where Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin was to be a speaker.

More than 1,000 protesters chanted, marched and yelled as attendees arrived Tuesday evening for a Republican dinner at the San Marino Club in Troy. The 9th Congressional District Republican committee's Southeast Michigan Ronald Reagan Memorial Dinner 2012 was the event, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's appearance there was the draw for protesters. The crowd, estimated by Troy police to have reached about 1,300 people at one point, chanted "What do we want?" and an answering "Justice!" and "When do we want it?" "Now!" The protests, which started about 5 p.m. in advance of the 7 p.m. dinner program, stretched a whole block of Big Beaver Road. The Michigan chapter of the National Action Network headed by the Rev. Charles Willams II planned …

It's glaringly obvious the household where you grew up decided to home school the children. BTW every republican president and vice president has sent all their children to private schools. Look it up for yourself. Heck, even GWB who was a recipient of republican affirmative action @ Harvard (he really was in the bottom percentile of his class)   more ›

Tea Party Tax Day Rally Draws 400 to Kellogg Park

Rattle With Us T.E.A. Party members rally over discontent with the federal government.

As the storm clouds passed, and the sun peeked out over Plymouth, intrepid conservatives from all over the state gathered once again in our hometown to voice their discontent for current fiscal policy, and a federal government whom they claim has reached far beyond the limitations placed on it by the Constitution. The organizers of the Rattle With Us T.E.A. Party (Taxed Enough Already) decided to hold this year's Tax Day Tea Party rally at Kellogg Park, where, in 2009, the organization's first event drew almost two thousand people. This year's event drew about 400 brave souls, who risked the early afternoon thunderstorms to hear a lineup of speakers including conservative author James Keena (Insurrection Resurrection & We've Been Had), …

I think some of the commenters here need to google the "tu quoque" logical fallacy. If the Democratic Party did what the Tea Party Republicans are doing now, then shame on the Democrats. That doesn't change the fact that what the Republicans are doing is unethical and more improtantly, highly unconstitutional & illegal. To all of the Republicans, I will go on the record stating this in reference …   more ›

Mitt Romney Wins Big in Northville

Despite Romney's small margin win in the State of Michigan, he saw a large victory over Rick Santorum in Northville's precincts.

Mitt Romney is the winner of the Michigan Presidential Primary with Rick Santorum trailing close behind. Romney earned 41 percent of the vote in the Mitten State while Santorum captured 38 percent of the Republican vote. In Northville, Romney saw a bigger victory than he saw statewide. In the city's two precincts, 25.3 percent of the 4,970 people registered to vote cast a ballot. And 50.8 percent, or 639, of those voters backed Mitt Romney at the polls. Exactly 299 votes were cast in the city for Rick Santorum. That accounts for 23.76 percent of the city's vote. Ron Paul came in a distant third with 8.26 percent of the vote, or 104 votes. Northville Township's 15 precincts and absentee ballot voters also favored Romney. About 27 percent of…

Democrats didn't "fail" here -- if Rick Santorum (and his surrogates) had simply stopped scaring mainstream Republicans with hardline social conservative comments, he probably would have won outright. It's also not a "failure" for Democrats when the Republican who was SUPPOSED to crush all opposition here in his "home state" instead has to spend more than $5 million (between the Romney campaign …   more ›

UPDATE: Romney Supporters Eagerly Back Their 'Hometown Hero' After Close Win in Michigan

'I was confident we could come together today and take a giant step toward a brighter future,' Bloomfield-area native tells backers after a tense primary day.

NOVI – Mitt Romney was looking for a little home cooking, and he got it. The son of former Michigan Gov. George Romney who was born and raised in Bloomfield Hills needed a win to stop surging opponent Rick Santorum and ease fears that he couldn’t take a state in which the economy is the issue. He ended up taking what many political pundits called a "must win" with 43 percent of the vote statewide and overwhelming support in Oakland and Wayne counties. “It’s a big, big win and I just wanted to come down here and join the rally and the celebration,” Troy resident Bill McNeil said after leaving the ballroom where Romney gave his victory speech at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. “I was a little worried earlier today when I saw the …
