In this presentation, you receive a totally different perspective on how American women in Detroit took charge of their destiny to build international careers in the fine arts. Revealed are the obstacles, courage and humor required to gain financial independence and become part of the mainstream business world even as recently as the 1990s.
Our speaker is Suzanne Bilek, a native Detroiter who specializes in the art history of urban Detroit. She is a contributor to Hour Detroit magazine and author of the new book Great Female Artists of Detroit. Ms. Bilek holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and has a career in the art business including positions as agent for fine and commercial artists, marketing manager, and craftswoman. Bilek is also a curatorial assistant at the Detroit Historical Museum.

The restaurant offers American cuisine, including steaks, pizzas, burgers, salads and seafood entrees. Its name derives from the building's historic use as a gas station.
