Demystify the process of getting your book published.
What: This is a workshop for writers who have written a book (fiction or nonfiction), or who plan to write a book, and want to know how to get it published. The workshop will provide a brief overview of the publishing scene today and will cover trends in publishing including:
- What's happening in the world of the Big 6 publishing houses. How to optimize your chances of getting your book published by one of the Big 6 publishers.
- How you can publish your own hardcover or softcover book and arrange for distribution, both via online sales and via orders in bookstores.
- How to ensure you reach your book's intended audience; how to grow your platform - and why it is essential to do so; inspiring self-publishing success stories.
- How to publish your book as an ebook; drawbacks and pluses of ebook publication; ebook publishing success stories.
- Resources pertinent to all of the above.
- Q & A
Who: The How to Get Your Book Published workshop presenter is award-winning writer Jessica Hatchigan, author of How to Be Your Own Publicist (McGrawHill), and of two children's books published by Avon Camelot.
