Northville Resident in the Fast Lane When It Comes to Winning Car Sales Awards

When you have cars in your blood, there’s no telling what can happen. For Rich Curran of Northville, it means receiving not one, not two, but three “New Vehicle Salesperson of the Year” awards.

Curran was recently named “New Vehicle Salesperson of the Year” for 2012 at George Matick Chevrolet in Redford Township. This caps his third honor in this category since he started working at the dealership 18 years ago. Curran delivered 206 vehicles in 2012.

“Rich (Curran) knows our products, their history and a lot about the competitors, inside and out,” says dealership owner Karl Zimmermann of Bloomfield Township. “He also has helped to establish our Corvette footprint and reputation, creating a lot of opportunities for the all-new C7 Stingray, which should be available in mid-summer.”

Curran comes from a long line of car dealers, including his father, grandfather and great grandfather. “I’ve been around cars forever,” says Curran, who is the proud father of one son. The prolific salesman attributes his success to working at one place for a long period of time, developing a customer base and providing great customer service, which ensures repeat customers and referrals.

He’s also proud of what he sells. “Right now, I’m driving a great 2013 Malibu and my wife is driving a Traverse. She loves it,” he says.

As for the car-sales outlook, Curran notes that things are on the upswing.

“This year is starting out well,” he says. “We at George Matick anticipate having another big year.” Curran is especially excited about the all-new Impala that’s coming out in a few weeks. “And of course, the 2014 Corvette Stingray is generating a ton of excitement, after its introduction at the Detroit auto show” he notes. “That C7 will be fun to sell. Everything about that car is excellent, but there’s also still a big demand for the 2013 Corvette, since it’s the last of the C6 generation.”

About the Dealership

George Matick Chevrolet was named one of Automotive News’ “100 Best Dealerships To Work For” in 2012. Matick Chevy. It is one of only five Michigan dealerships and the only Chevrolet dealership in the state to earn the distinction.

The dealership and its employees are involved in dozens of local causes including Detroit City Mission, Cornerstone Schools and Wayne County’s Veteran’s Justice Outreach Project along with scores of community events, from sponsoring local football teams to hosting Friday-night banquets for area sports teams.

The dealership also is involved in Corvette racing and last year sponsored a car at Chevrolet’s GRAND AM Rolex Series' 200 during the 2012 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. This year, the dealership continues its partnership with Ortonville-based D.J. Racing Enterprise and popular Corvette racecar driver Danny Kellermeyer.

Dealer Karl Zimmermann recently announced an exciting renovation plan for his dealership. The extensive overhaul and face-lift will include not only a new interior and exterior design, but also a detached new deluxe carwash and express oil-change complex that will be located adjacent to the dealership, providing customers with all their automotive needs in a one-stop facility.
