Northville, MI – Locally owned and operated Guernsey Farms Dairy announced that it was awarded the Best Whole Chocolate Milk in the country for 2013 by the World Dairy Expo. Although the company has been in operation for almost 75 years, this is Guernsey’s first nationally recognized award. 2013’s event include more than 820 competing companies from 28 countries, 43 U.S. states and 6 Canadian provinces. The total attendance in 2013 was 70,006 visitors, with 2,699 registered international guests from 90 countries. Visitors from Canada, Mexico, Ireland, China and Germany topped the list of international guests during the five-day event.
Guernsey Farms Dairy has built its reputation on the belief of its founder John McGuire’s very simple business philosophy: Produce good products, maintain good quality, and provide good customer service. In this era of corporate farming, the family-run Guernsey Farms Dairy remains committed to these three values and injects them into every aspect of its work.

Current owner/operator Marty McGuire has a wish that “hopefully, being bestowed this award will bring more attention to the rich dairy history that Michigan has, and will ultimately benefit all of its farmers in some way or another”. This award, coupled with the swelling local food movement in MI, will allow Guernsey Farms Dairy to compete on a more level playing field with the large, corporate dairies.
