Grab & Go Kids' Planner: Hiking, Storytime and the Arts

Get outside this weekend to celebrate summer's final days with this list of events in and around Northville.

It may be September but summer's not over yet! Make the most of these last few days before school starts with activities the whole family will appreciate. And, remember to look for the kids’ planner each Thursday for a fresh batch of to-dos.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Where/When: Downtown Royal Oak, Friday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

Why Go: There will be tons of art, music, food and carnival rides.

HIKE AND BIKE AT MAYBURY STATE PARK

Where/When:  any day from 8 a.m.- dusk

Why Go: The whole family can get some exercise and fresh air. Take your pick: you can bike or hike the 4-mile paved trail.

Why Go: Come hear veteran mountain climber, Steve Jochmans, talk about his hiking and climbing adventures. Call the library to reserve a spot.

Why Go: Bring the boys to this week's storytime. The theme is: Trucks and Trains. The kids get to take home a cute little train craft, too.
