Illumination for Education Raises $7,000 for Northville Schools

Dozens of people supported the tree lighting fundraiser on Dec. 1.

— Submitted by the Mothers’ Club of Northville

The Mothers’ Club of Northville was proud to have been a part of the recent Winter Market, held Dec. 1 and 2 in downtown Northville. The tree lighting ceremony, held Saturday evening, was the 18th annual celebration of All Aglow/ Illumination for Education.

Illumination for Education couldn’t have had a successful outcome without the help and support of many community members. Susan Taylor, from the Northville Art House, invited Mothers’ Club to be a part of this event. Additionally, Lori Ward and the full Downtown Development Authority were invaluable in their contributions. Students from the Northville High School National Honor Society, directed by senior Ashley Hart, did an extraordinary job of raising good cheer by leading several Christmas carols during the tree lighting ceremony.

Thanks to the Northville Community, efforts to raise money for the Northville School System by purchasing a symbolic tree light, totaled almost $7,000. Due to the recent budget cuts, the generosity shown through these donations is more important than ever.

Joe, the closed sign was in the window because Chocolates by Renee was closed for the day. The forRead More rent sign was in the window because the space holds more then one business. The other space that the chocolate store does not occupy is available to rent.

Journo101 mistake here. Always verify a closure with the owner or valid source before publishing.Read More Mistakes like this can be incredibly costly for a small business owner. The for rent sign has been there for over a year, same with the closed sign. Spend time in your city everyone, and you'll know whats going on before you see it online!
