Amy Yakima Tours the US for 'So You Think You Can Dance'

Northville's Amy Yakima was crowned "America's Favorite Dancer" last month after winning the 10th season of FOX's reality dance show "So You Think You Can Dance."

Yakima, 19, of Northville and 2011 graduate of Northville High School, is traveling the country now for the So You Think You Can Dance 2013 Dance Tour with the show's top 10 contestants. Her first stop: Michigan.

"It's so exciting. I've had so many people tell me they are coming to see the show," Yakima said in a news conference before Tuesday's show at the Wharton Center in East Lansing, according to MLive.com.

Yakima is a "hometown girl" and has no shortage of supporters in Northville and around the country.

Laura Tuinstra, who uses the handle @Ldiva5 on Twitter, tweeted to Yakima: "I just wanted to say you were perfect last night and the show was amazing! What a great opening show!! I loved the whole thing!"
