'Thriller' Dance Welcomes Skeletons to Northville

Dancing zombies entertain the crowd in Town Square Friday.

The skeletons arrived in downtown Northville and felt quite at home in the company of dancing zombies.

Dancers from Northville's Piazza Dance Company dressed as zombies Friday evening and performed to Michael Jackson's song "Thriller." Their performance was a part of the "Skeletons are Alive" launch party in Town Square.

Company owner Gina Piazza said this is the second year her dancers performed. However, this time drew a bigger crowd since last year's weather was uncooperative. She said the girls rehearsed for about a month with instructor Lindsey Humpert, who choreographed the dance.

There will be more than 50 themed skeleton sculptures placed around downtown through Oct. 31. The kick-off Friday also included a ribbon cutting and a free concert featuring the band Social Bones.
