If you knew you were going to die soon, would you want to know your significant others' biggest secrets? That's the road the protagonists of take us down in the 's latest production.
The three-person cast stars Aaron H. Alpern as Michael Waterman, Julia Glander as his wife Linda Waterman and Alysia Kolascz as the woman that comes between them named Abby Drake.
Written by Steven Dietz, the plot starts off with the moment a married couple, the Watermans, met as young travelers abroad. Their ease of conversation and teasing lead us to believe they have been lifelong friends if not more.
Fastforward to the present day, when Linda Waterman discovers she has a malignant tumor that will soon end her life. The Watermans, both accomplished authors, spend their last days together until Linda drops something of a bombshell that will test their relationship - she wants to read her husband's journals before he dies. She promises he can read hers posthumously in exchange.
To appease his dying wife, he allows her to read his journals. She soon learns a secret about their relationship - that he had an affair with another woman. The nature of his relationship with the woman after their affair take another twist, alluding to the title of the play. And Linda's own revelation surfaces. Following a series of other curveballs, the truth finally emerges about the couple.
The play is directed by theatre director James Kuhl. Following one of the shows, Kuhl held a discussion with the audience about the play.
An audience memeber told him, "Everytime I thought I knew where it was going, it went somewhere else."
The play runs through April 15. On Thursdays and Fridays, the theatre has shows at 8 p.m. It also has 3 p.m. showings on March 31, April 7 and 14. There will also be shows at 2 p.m. on March 25 and April 1 and 15.
Tickets are $28 for Thursday shows, $30 for Friday and Saturday evening performances, $28 for Saturday and Sunday matinees. Seniors 62 and older get a $2 discount.
