Northville's Amerman Elementary School has a new principal this year.
Madeja, of Novi, comes to Northville from the Howell Public School District where she was principal of Challenger Elementary School for seven years. She also spent 18 years as a teacher in the Novi Community School District.
"My goal is to keep supporting my teachers, students and parents," she said.
Amerman Elementary is known for its many programs and activities like the Solar Sprint, when students work in teams to create solar-powered miniature cars out of Legos.
"I’m so excited about everything I'm hearing," she said.
Madeja said she met with Anderson who shared with her the programs he started at the school.
"I’m really happy to support the wonderful programs he had going here," she said.
The Northville schools board of education unanimously approved Madeja's appointment as principal at a meeting in May.
"Ms. Madeja has outstanding credentials as an educator and school administrator, and she also is a graduate of the Galileo Leadership Academy," said Superintendent Mary K. Gallagher at the meeting.
Madeja said she has a message to the parents of Amerman Elementary students: "I am so grateful that I've been welcomed with open arms and positivity and support. It speaks to the culture and the sprit of Amerman."
