AT&T Activates New Cell Tower in Northville

The tower will provide better Internet use for area residents.

To support growing demand for advanced mobile devices and applications, AT&T announced the activation of a new mobile Internet cell site in Northville Township near Five Mile and Beck roads on Tuesday. 

The cell site will enhance coverage for area residents and businesses. With mobile Internet speeds, AT&T customers can surf the Web, download files faster, and enjoy the latest interactive mobile applications.  

“AT&T’s innovation and investment in Wayne County means bringing the next generation of technology to local families and job providers,” said state Rep. Kurt Heise (R-Plymouth). “This is the kind of investment that not only helps keep our families connected, but also gives job providers the tools they need to compete in the global economy and that’s exciting news for the region.”

The new cell site is one part of AT&T’s ongoing efforts to drive investment and innovation to deliver the most advanced mobile Internet experience for customers. 

“As the transition continues into the next generation of innovation and communications technology, our goal is always for our customers to have an extraordinary experience. As part of these communities, we’re always looking for new opportunities to provide an enhanced customer experience and our investment in the local wireless network is just one way we’re accomplishing that,” said Jim Murray, president of AT&T Michigan.

AT&T currently provides voice service in more than 225 countries and data service in more than 200 countries. AT&T also offers voice and data roaming coverage on more than 135 major cruise ships, as well as mobile broadband services in more than 130 countries.  AT&T also has nearly 30,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in the U.S. and provides access to nearly 225,000 hotspots globally through roaming agreements.

Visitors to AT&T's local network site, http://att.com/DetroitNetwork, can look at AT&T's wireless network enhancements made since January 2011. Enhancements include new cell sites, Internet speed upgrades, capacity upgrades and network connection upgrades.  

For more information about AT&T’s coverage in Michigan or anywhere in the United States, consumers can visit the AT&T Coverage Viewer. Using the online tool, AT&T customers can measure coverage quality of coverage from a street address, intersection, ZIP code or landmark.
