Northville Business Spotlight on Starring the Gallery
This week, we highlight a Main Street business owned by Northville resident Mary Starring.

Founded in 2001 under the Name Swearingen Visions. In 2007, it changed to Starring The Gallery.
Q: How did your business come to be?

I've lived in downtown Northville since 1985 and have always thought I would like to open a business in Downtown, after my life in the automotive world. So in 2001, Nancy Swearingen and I started Swearingen Visions, using her art background and my business background. We first did the Northville Victorian Festival in 2001 and the Ann Arbor winter art fair and decided that would not be the way we wanted to continue. So in 2005 Jim Long was starting to build 120 W. Main and the rest, as they say, is history. We opened our doors officially on November 15, 2005.
Q: Why did you choose Northville?
We chose Northville because it's where I lived and was tired of the 45 minute commute each way to work.
Q: What kinds of services do you offer?
We offer jewelry, painting, ceramics etc.. made by local artists, and other great gift items.
Q: What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?
That we have been open in downtown since November 2005!
Q: What do you want your business to be best known for?
Like my customers to feel that when they leave they had the best experience.
Q: What's your most popular product or service?
Our most popular service is the First Friday Experience where we feature a new artist every month, as well as wine and appetizers. From time to time also have live music, additional artists.
