Patch Picks: Valentine's Day Dining Guide

A quick look at what Northville restaurants are offering for those looking to get out of the kitchen on this holiday of love.

Valentine's Day is the day most women hope to take off their “Kiss the Cook” aprons and go out to eat! Northville has plenty to offer for those looking to celebrate the holiday and let someone else do the cooking.

  1. Table 5 on Main Street is booking up fast for Saturday night but still has openings for Monday which is officially Valentine's Day, Feb. 14 (they are closed Sunday.) Chef Brandon Wolschleger is featuring two dinner specials: a seafood mixed grill and a pan roasted veal chop. He's using “pink pepper corns” in some of his recipes in honor of the romantic holiday. The restaurant is also featuring a double chocolate cupcake for dessert which comes with a flaming strawberry. No need to dress up, unless you want to. Table Five is described as “casual elegant” but if you're thinking about going Saturday night call now to make a reservation. 248-305-6555
  2.  on Haggerty between Seven and Eight Mile roads is cooking up something special for the big day. Actually, general manager Bob Roberts says  all features will be available Saturday thru Monday. There will be “two-for” dinners – two entrees and a dessert ranging in price from $20 to $30. Diners can choose from two entrees, such as beef medallions, salmon or lasagna and a dessert to share. In addition there will also be a chocolate fountain with pretzels, and marshmallows and fruit to dip in it. There will also be drink specials including a white chocolate martini and select bottles of wine for ten dollars.   Call for reservations 734-432 0200.
  3. on Center Street in Northville expects Saturday night to be busier than the actual holiday on Monday. It's the perfect place for a romantic dinner with candles on every table and entrees big enough to be shared by two.  A popular dish is the Osso Buca which is a braised veal shank or the Pescatori which is seafood in a white wine sauce served over pasta. And of course there is dessert, their specialty bearing the name of the restaurant Tirami Su which you can lovingly feed to each other if the mood strikes you. Call for reservations 248-735-0101
  4. on Northville Road between Six and Seven Mile roads  has an unusual “adult only” offering for Valentine's Day. A Valentine’s Day aphrodisiac menu has been planned and literally says anyone under 17 must be accompanied by an adult! Of course there are fried oysters and the menu has some interesting facts about what certain fruits or seasonings can do for your “appetite!” Special Menu Prices range from $8.99 to $21.99 and the special Menu will be available Feb. 12-14. Restaurant General manager Rene Roth says they will be taking reservations for seating about a half hour or 45 minutes before you hope to dine there at 248-347-4353.
  5. There will be two Valentine's Day special features on the menu at on West Seven Mile Road. General manager John Campbell says they are offering a surf and turf special and chicken oscar. Both come with a glass of champagne and a triple chocolate fudge brown cheesecake for dessert. With a roaring fireplace and dim lighting, Rocky's is for romantics. In fact Campbell says many of the couples who met there come back to celebrate their anniversaries and of course Valentine's Day. He says they are booking up quickly for the weekend but reservations are still being accepted online at or by phone 248-349-4434
