Planet Fitness attracts a diverse crowd of people interested in staying healthy and fit.
It prides itself as a judgement free zone and has a low tolerance for bodybuilders. It uses a "Lunk Alarm," an actual light and siren intended to deter members from the hard-core, look-at-me behavior common in gyms.

Chris Klebba, owner of Northville's Planet Fitness, said they use the alarm daily.
A sign next to the alarm offers this definition of a lunk: "lunk (lunk) n. [slang] one who grunts, drops weights, or judges."
