UPDATED: 4 Hospitalized After Crash in Northville Township

Police said driver crossed over into oncoming traffic on Haggerty Road and hit a car with three people inside.

Several people are hospitalized after a head-on collision at Eight Mile and Haggerty Road in late Sunday night.

Sgt. Matt Mayes of the Northville Township Police Department said that one person had been airlifted to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor and two others were taken to Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills.

Mayes said a man driving a Chevy Tahoe and driving southbound on Haggerty crossed over the lane into oncoming trafic and hit a Buick SUV with three people inside.

He said he didn't have ages of any of the people. It is also unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor, or whether or not any of the passengers were wearing seat belts.

Mayes also said that an officer was at Botsford doing a follow-up.

Haggerty was closed in front of – where the cars ended up as a result of the accident – at 11:45 p.m. And according to a Novi Police Department Nixle alert, the traffic signal at Eight Mile and Haggerty is not working. At 11:45 p.m. officers were on scene helping to direct traffic.
