5 Things You Should Know Today: Jan. 18

From events to gas prices to the weather, we've gathered a list of information that is important to Northville today.

  1. Northville weather: Rain, snow, freezing rain and sleet are expected before 7 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service forecasts rain from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by rain and snow. Expect areas of fog with a high near 35 degrees. The NWS forecasts that little or no ice accumulation is expected.
  2. The lowest gas prices in the Northville area, as of Monday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com, are $3.09/gallon at the at Eight Mile and Haggerty roads and at the  station on Six Mile and Haggerty roads. 
  3. There are two meetings canceled today. The Downtown Development Authority and Planning Commission meetings have been canceled. The city council is still scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
  4. on Haggerty Road is offering a child seat safety workshop today at 6:30 p.m. The is free.
  5. There's interesting news in surrounding Patches everyday. Today, the Plymouth Patch has a story about a newly worded noise ordinance that focuses on whether the noise is significant enough to "disturb the peace" rather than decibels.
