5 Things You Should Know Today: Sept. 14

From events to gas prices to the weather, we've got info important to Northville today.

  1. Northville weather: There's a 20 percent chance of showers today. Partly sunny skies are also expected with a high near 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. In the evening, there's a 30 percent chance of showers. The NWS also forecasts mostly cloudy skies tonight with a low around 42 degrees.
  2. The lowest reported gasoline price in the Northville area – as of late Tuesday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com – is $3.79 per gallon. That price is reported to be available at the BP station at Seven Mile and Beck roads and at the Speedway and Meijer stations, both at the intersection of Eight Mile and Haggerty roads.
  3. The Northville Art House is featuring the "A Teacher's Legacy: Russell Keeter & His Students Art Exhibit." For 27 years, Keeter inspired art students at Detroit's Center for Creative Studies. The exhibit is open today from 1-5 p.m.
  4. Local historian Al Smitley presents a look at the historical events in Victorian America, including temperance, slavery, and women's rights, that shaped our entry into the Civil War. will be held at the at 7 p.m.
