Ultimate Fishing Show
- Where:
- When: Noon-9:30 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday
- Pricing: $10 for adults, $4 for kids 6-14, ages 5 and younger get in free. On Thursday, admission is waived to patrons who bring six cans/boxes or four pounds of non-perishable food items to donate to the annual Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger food drive. Parking fee is $5.
- Why Go: The Ultimate Fishing Show comes to the Suburban Collection Showplace for four days, where you can shop for gear, get tips and instruction, browse for boats, plan a trip and much more.
Whalers hockey plus an Annabelle Road show
- Where:
- When: 7:05 p.m. Saturday
- Pricing: $12-$16
- Why Go: Catch an exciting night of hockey as the Plymouth Whalers host Mississauga. After the game, around 9:50 p.m., enjoy a free concert by country act Annabelle Road.
Winter Wildlife Walk
- Where: Kensington Metropark
- When: 2 p.m. Sunday
- Pricing: $3 per person, plus a $5 daily vehicle pass if you don't already have an annual permit.
- Why Go: Enjoy a walk around Kensington's trails and look for wildlife. You'll learn what animals do during the winter months. (Hint: They don't all hibernate.) Be sure to dress for the weather, and bring a pair of binoculars if you have some. Registration is required. Call 248-685-1561 or 800-477-3178.
More events
- has two events lined up this weekend. From 7-9 p.m. Friday singer-songwriter Donna Lee Holman will perform easy listening favorites and original songs. And from 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday Farmington author Nan Willard Cappo will sign copies of her latest young adult novel, and it's also part of the store's all-day program focusing on Michigan authors. Both events are free.
- The 3rd Annual REI Frosty Freestyle Race comes to Huron Meadows Metropark 10:30 a.m. Saturday, where you can cross-country ski in 5K and 15K divisions. Children's events are planned, too, and the event benefits Huron Meadows' skiing programs. Cost is $39 the day of, or $15 for kids 15 and younger.
