Ready for New Year's? Where to Watch the Game

Five places to watch your favorite teams toss the pigskin.

It's the end of 2011 and another football season for college teams, plus a few NFL games to watch, too. We've got the scoop on what you need to know to cheer on your team, including these places open on New Year's Day, so you can catch the Lions take on the Packers at 1 p.m.

Aubree's Pizzeria & Tavern has all the foods you'd want on a game day, from wings and potato skins to pizza and burgers. Plus, there's beer and TV screens to watch all the action. On Jan. 1 they'll be open 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Brann's will be open its regular hours New Year's Day, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., serving up burgers, steaks, ribs and other treats. The Northville site has plenty of flat-screen TVs so you won't miss any game action.

Starting Gate will be open later in the day, 5 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Stop in for a beer, some ribs or pizza, and tune in to something on the TV.

  • Wolverines: No. 13 University of Michigan (10-2, 6-2 Big 10) will face 17th-ranked Virginia Tech (11-2, 7-2 ACC) in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 3 game at the Superdome in New Orleans.
