See Northville Artists' Fiber Sculptures at Ann Arbor Art Fair

The husband-and-wife team creates the sculptures at their Northville studio.

More than 1,000 artists will showcase their work at the 54th annual Ann Arbor Art Fair next week.

Two of those artists are husband-and-wife team Bruce Thelen and Laurie Fowler. They create their pieces out of their studio, Fowler-Thelen Studios, in their Northville home.

The couple creates pieces from fiber, suede and metal on three-dimensional welded steel constructions. See the photos above of some of their work.

Find Thelen and Fowler at the Ann Arbor Art Fair at booths E129 and E130.

The art fair is July 17 - 20 and includes four parts: Ann Arbor’s South University Art Fair; Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original; Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair; and the State Street Area Art Fair.

“Each year, it’s amazing to see the streets of Ann Arbor transformed into what is essentially a playground for art lovers,” said Karen Delhey, a spokeswoman for the Ann Arbor Art Fair.  “This year’s fair offers a unique mix of some of the best art from around the world, with many favorite returning artists, as well as a number of artists who will make their debut.”

The fair will have 2D and 3D-mixed media, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry and works in metal, stone and wood.
