FAMILY !! Northville Team Effort Results in Victory Over Novi

Ten years ago, Northville LAX Coach Greg Durham started a beloved team tradition.......he adopted the practice of breaking all huddles with the same shout, FAMILY!  It is not only a great slogan, it has become a way of operating his team as a family.  "Each year is a little different," explained Durham as he addressed the press post game, "sometimes it takes a while for the team to really buy in to our 'family' philosophy, but when they finally do, watch out because we become a far more dangerous team.  I think we took a big step in that direction tonight.  These kids played like they were brothers!"
Indeed they did.  Everybody on the Mustang squad chipped in toward the huge 9-6 victory over arch rival Novi.  The action was fierce from the opening face-off and bodies were flying.  It is exactly what should be expected when two powerhouse teams from the same division collide.  In spite of the intensity, the game was relatively unmarred by penalties as the officials kept a close eye on the action and never let it get out of control.  "Both teams played extremely hard", said Durham, "but everybody played within the rules for the most part.  I am incredibly proud of our guys."
The game was a spectator's dream.  The 1st quarter was a see-saw event which ended at 2-2.  The Stangs dominated the 2nd stanza with four unanswered goals to take a 6-2 lead into the half.  Novi burst out of the locker room to grab the 3rd period and draw the score back to 7-6, but Northville slammed the door with a couple late goals to make the final 9-6.  It was a hard fought and exciting win for the Mustangs to start the conference season after a supremely challenging early season schedule.
In this scribe's opinion, a family victory calls for a family shout out.  Here are the Mustangs who contributed this evening: Freshmen...Kyle Condino, and Connor Wright.  Sophomores...Harry Dyson, Brendan Hicks, Brennan and Connor Sweeney.  Juniors...Daniel Baldwin, AJ Batshon, Matthew Bryndza, Brian Griffiths, Ross Guider, Alex Justice, Paul Lindow, Alec Melucci, David Morrissey, Rob Sneed, Kyle Wright.  And Seniors...David Blough, Peter Chew, John Cooke, Jake and Alex Fuller, Handsome Glover, Cam Laburn, David Maier, Teddy Molinari, Charlie Morgan, Nathan Ray, Jimmy Steslicki, Greg Stewart.  Hats off to this band of brothers!!
