On Fire: Mustangs Torch the Nets in Win Over South Lyon

It was raining 3's at the Stable tonight as the mighty Mustangs found their range.  In a spectacular display of marksmanship, the home team shot 10-16 from 3 point range and easily outdistanced the Lions in an important division match-up Friday night in Northville.  The final was 68-54.  The win keeps the Mustangs in striking distance for the division crown, and sets up a huge rematch with Salem next Friday evening in Plymouth.
The players of the game tonight were Northville senior co-captains, Andrew Meacham and Malik Bazzi.  Both were golden from all over the floor with Meacham controlling the 1st quarter, and Bazzi taking charge in the 3rd.  Meacham edged out the scoring honors for the evening, with 19 points and 4 triples.  Bazzi was hot on his heels with 17 and 3 treys.  Another big night came from Joe Hewlett, who is starting to hit his basketball stride after a long football season as the Mustangs Football leader.  Joe had 15 scrappy points tonight including three daggers from the arch. Sophomore Justin Zimbo made some noise from the free throw line, going 5-6 down the stretch to help secure the win.  Carter Drazga was dangerous for South Lyon, leading them in scoring with 16 while adding 11 assists.
On a cold, windy night, the Mustang Student Fan Attack was in action again.  The bleachers were full of raving crazies and our players took energy and enthusiasm from the support.  "It is certainly our secret weapon to have these great fans behind us," Coach Sander commented with pride, "we love their ability to get us fired up."  The coaching staff was thrilled with the entire team effort in the gym tonight.  "Gotta find a way to keep this vibe going!"
For the third consecutive game night, the Northville Boys swept all three contests with the Freshmen staying undefeated and the JV's remaining on a hot streak.  The Mustangs take to the road for a pair of critical games next week.  South Lyon East will host on Tuesday night, then on to Salem on Friday night for the rematch.  We all know the Mustangs travel well, so we'll see you there!
