Well here it is 7:25 at night and the white stuff is still falling. Call me crazy but there is nothing prettier than a fresh fallen snow unless of course it is palm trees swaying on a sunny beach. That reminds me maybe I should spend a little of my day off looking for a nice all inclusive to go to in February or March.
I spent the day shoveling snow it seems. We have a cottage a little bit away and I went over there to shovel the snow. The roads were really bad and my car did a couple of fish tails on the way back.
I am just sitting here with Lisa watching a George Clooney movie before I go back out and shovel some more. They are saying it is going to snow until 3 am. So I thought I would give you a couple of tips on how to protect your house with all this snow.
One of the biggest issues you may have after the big snow is a potential ice dam. So it may be wise to get a snow rake to get some of the snow off the edges of your roof. With all this snow it is going to be an issue when it melts on your roof.
Hopefully when you are shovel or snow blowing you are not piling up the snow against the house. This is probably the biggest snowfall we have had in years. We have more snow on the ground than we have had in years. When it melts you want to make sure it is not going to run into the house. So try to keep as much of the snow away from the house as possible.
The next thing you should do is shake off your bushes. Heavy snow on the branches can break them or permanently disfigure them. If heavy snow pushes down and creates a space in the bush and stays like that for a week it may always look like that. So tomorrow go out and shake off your bushes. Otherwise you may be replacing some bushes because they do not look so good.
