“Bake-cations” for Foodies

Baking classes at the highly acclaimed Zingerman's Bakehouse.

As many of us know, Zingerman’s Deli and Bakehouse in Ann Arbor provides great food and drink. If you're not in the know – it's time you go!

This place has been around for 25 years and has been recognized for its great food offerings by many big name media outlets, such as New York Times.

You can go to Zingerman’s and take weeklong and weekend cooking classes called “BAKE!” and “BAKE-cations." These classes include breakfast and lunch each day.  You should be aware: these classes sell out quickly due to the high acclaim of the business. It's also worth mentioning that novices are welcome too.

This is a Great Escape, but if you just want to order some great food online, you can do that too.

Here are the locations:

  • Zingerman’s Deli is at 422 Detroit St., west of the Univeristy of Michigan hospital. Phone: 734-663-DELI.
  • Zingerman’s Roadhouse is at 2501 Jackson Ave., northwest of the U of M Stadium. Phone: 734-663-FOOD.
  • Zingerman’s Coffee Company and Creamery are at 3723 Plaza Dr. Phone: 734-929-6060.
  • Zingerman’s Bakehouse is at 3711 Plaza Dr., just south of Briarwood Mall. Phone: 734-761-2095.

Zingerman's has many great baked goods including my favorite the Country Scone. Always enjoy bumping in to co-owner Ari Weinzweig and sharing his great enthusiasm for food and service which they actually teach in "Zing Train."

I just noticed Zingerman's is carried at a downtown Northville establishment. Can anybody name it?

Tuscan Cafe...for one. Many places and grocery stores sell their bagels and baked goods.
